Windows 7 – Change desktop icon settings

Desktop icons enables us to open folders or run an application easier & faster. However, there are some “special icons” that we can show or hide it. These icons are Computer, User’s Files, Network, and Recycle Bin. By default, only the Recycle Bin desktop icon are enabled in Windows 7. However, some of us might still need to use the other desktop icons. So, you can just easily enable them.

Go to Control Panel > Appearance & Personalization > Personalization (or you can just Right-click on the Desktop and click Personalize).

Step 2:

On the top-left corner, click on the Change Desktop Icons link.

Step 3:

Now You can choose the icons that you want to see on your Desktop by just checking on the check box next to the name of the icon. 

Finally, click OK or Apply to see the icons on your Desktop immediately.
